　　退休舞男Simon现从事古董买卖经纪，生性风流倜傥，他的表弟Mike为一个新入行的舞男，因事惹上非，Simon为救表弟，因而与性格保守的女助理检控官Sandy相识，最后Simon于庭上斗赢了Sandy，令Sandy对他又爱又恨。

　　富家太太留太太嫁了世家子Peter，没有儿女，令家族甚为不满，Peter遂与妻子合谋用金钱雇请舞男借种，唯留太太看中退休舞男Simon。Sandy有阴险上司林冲，时常压迫她，并且联合杀鸭警司扫荡舞男，Sandy这时对Simon有爱慕意，欲通知Simon，结果反被上司知悉，遭受革退，Simon知悉Sandy消沉，极盼与Sandy和好发展一段真正友情。

　　留太太本来利用Simon 借种，结果爱上Simon，苦缠Simon，Simon欲向留太太摊牌，Peter出现，纠缠间Simon错手误杀Peter ，留太太大力指证Simon谋杀丈夫。

　　《与鸭共舞》演绎了一段“舞男与律师”的爱情传奇，中间又以向舞男“借种”导致的误杀案件经过作为重要叙事桥段：由“借种”而来的翻云覆雨，女律师爱上舞男正面社的压力，法庭辩护的紧张激烈，都令影片颇具娱乐观赏性。不过，影片结尾处任达华摆脱杀人嫌疑一段的情节设置却并不高明，在法庭上律师（吴君如）与舞男（任达华）发表爱情宣言，公开激吻，导致痴恋舞男的富婆（叶玉卿）情绪失控，最终露出马脚，如此安排固然戏味十足，奇峰陡转热闹有趣，却过于仓促儿戏，看来《与鸭共舞》编导的媚俗心理和《舞男情未了》是如出一辙，不相伯仲的。
