◎剧情简介

Based on the profound and heart-breaking novel by Thomas Harding about Tess Durbeyfield, a low-born country girl whose family find they have noble connections. Gemma Arterton stars as Tess, the romantic heroine in this lavish four-part adaptation.

Her family is poor and prevails upon her to claim connections with a wealthy D'Urberville family in an effort to secure financial assistance. Tess's unhappy fate is set in motion as a train of events is unleashed. Her story is also punctuated by cruelty, violence, and social injustices. Hans Matheson is the caddish Alec, Eddie Redmayne plays Angel, with whom she falls in love, and Jodie Whittaker plays Izz, her best friend.
