　　身经百战的老兵海威因为行为不检及酒醉闹事而被调回他原来隶属的陆战队侦察营，在那里他遇到了刚从军备部调来，一心想求表现的鲍尔斯少校，少校处处跟他过不去，而他手下率领的更是一群散漫的天兵们，除了积极训练他们之外，海威也急欲跟已离婚的妻子破镜重圆，他想为军旅生涯划下美好的句点，从此高挂战袍，却因战事再度爆发，他带着菜鸟们上战场，击败了敌人，救出被挟持的美国平民，也得到上级长官的赏识，他仍决定退休跟前妻好好地生活。

幕后制作

　　这部描写部队生活的影片虽然缺乏世界大战的精彩背景，却在结尾处鼓吹了1983年美国入侵格林纳达的辉煌胜利，但美国的五角大楼和海军陆战队都发表声明否定了它，海军陆战队还指出，这部影片“没有准确地反映出海军陆战队的训练，它的某些部分有争议，令人不快”。虽然如此，克林特·伊斯特伍德逼真自然的表演却赋予了海韦以丰富的性格，加上其他配角的出色配合，使此片成为1987年度最卖座的片子之一。
