幕后制作

　　本片由麦尔·布鲁克斯编剧并亲自执导，他在片中饰演了包括摩西、杰奎琳、路易十四在内的五个角色。正如片名所示，这是世界史的第一部份。但导演麦尔·布鲁克斯并没有用任何刻板的讲述方式。正相反，他在片中使用了诸多极具幽默的讽刺，令人印象深刻。这也是麦尔·布鲁克斯的第二部修改哈维·克曼的角色名称的电影，最初的角色名字叫Blazing Saddles。麦尔·布鲁克斯早就准备好了这个片名因为厌烦老是有人问他下一部片子是什么。剧中约瑟的演员最初选定了Richard Pryor，但由于他在吸毒时不慎失火，造成自己严重烧伤，最后不得不由代替他出演。片中歌舞女孩从水中升起那场镜头实际上是女孩从水面降下水中，后期做倒放。影片大规模的使用了美工搭置的画景作背景。每个时代的场景（除了石器时代和旧约时代）基本上所有布景都是画的，因此大量的使用了固定机位和广角镜头。这样的布景还大量运用在了罗马时代的城帮、西班牙的城堡和法国大革命的城镇。负责道具设计和机位图设计的美工之一艾尔伯特·惠特洛克操着浓重的英国口音将拍摄用过的双轮战车出售，小赚一笔。
