　　影片讲述了在纽约最热的一天，在布鲁克林某个黑人街区所发生的故事。Samuel Jackson扮演的DJ，每天的工作就是看着季节上的风景胡言乱语。然后是一个叫迈耶的老人在收音机的聒噪声中从梦中醒来。然后是一个叫斯迈里的白人大傻子，在接上兜售一张Martin Luther King Jr.和Markem X的合影照片。然后是穆奇，穿着23号球衣，作在一个光线暧昧但很温暖的房间里数钱，他数得很认真，稚气十足。接下来出场的是三个白人，Pizza店的老板萨尔和两个儿子维托和皮诺，他两个儿子一直为谁在扫地的问题争吵不休。之后，罗茜再次出现，她扮演了穆奇的女朋友Tina，在厨房与母亲争吵过后回到房间安抚她受了惊吓的儿子。除此之外，影片一直在描写一些黑人聚集地的琐碎生活小事，尽管琐碎，但这仍然是一部很好看的电影。

幕后制作

　　影片采取黑人MTV的风格，夹叙夹议夹抒情，把激进的政_治主张呈现在日常生活的选择中。本片被专家誉为最出色的黑人题材影片。该片充满了黑人的说唱爵士，特别是贯穿全戏的人民公敌的那首 fight the power，绝对是黑人反白人W.A.S.P文化的宣言。当然，黑人电台的DJ Samuel Jackson播放的各种爵士音乐同样是很有韵味的。

花絮

·在片中有Rosie Perez扮演的Tina的裸体镜头，但是并没有出现她的脸。她曾经为此觉得难堪并且哭泣。不过在她随后就表示并不介意，并且在其他的电影里也曾一泻春光。

·影片开始的一句话是：“起床”，而斯派克·李的上一部电影《黑色学府》中的最后一句话也是：“起床。”

·收音机拉希姆（比尔·努恩扮）手上带的带有“爱与恨”的四指戒指是为了向《猎人之夜》中的Robert Mitchum致敬。

·斯派克·李最初想让罗伯特·德·尼罗出演比萨店老板Sal。

·最初剧本里没有Smiley这个角色，罗杰·格午埃文·史密斯主动找到斯派克·李要戏演，他的镜头全是在拍摄的时候临时加的。

·斯派克·李两个礼拜就写好了剧本。

·丹尼·艾洛和约翰·托尔托罗在影片进行到中间的那场关键对话有一部分是即兴加上去的。剧本到Smiley出现在窗前就结束了，之后发生的那一段完全是自由发挥。

·影片的灵感来源于一件在纽约发生的真实故事。几个黑人青年在霍华德海滩边上的比萨饼店被几个白人小伙子赶了出来。

·斯派克·李最初考虑比萨饼店老板儿子Pino的扮演者是马特·狄龙。

·在角落里闲聊的Robin Harris、Paul Benjamin、and Frankie Faison。他们三个人的戏都是临时准备的。
